Latest Project: Computer Guts

Here are some photos of my latest project: a massive painting for a leading internet search company. In just a few weeks, this oversized canvas will meet a hyperreal painting of the inside of a computer. The painting will be based on a photo by David Dworkind, a talented Montreal architect and photographer. This was my first time experimenting with a projector, and it was a blast.

Keep checking in for more photos! Time-lapse video to follow.

A Successful Weekend at TOAE!

The Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition was a huge success! Despite the unbearable heat-wave, and the periodic monsoon, thousands of art-lovers came out to the show. I parted with 4 prints, 4 paintings and 6 drawings. I made lots of new friends, ate a lot of fish tacos, and drank a little too much coffee.

This was my first outdoor exhibition. It was challenging, but certainly worthwhile. We had to pack up the artwork every night and re-install it the next morning (Starbucks helped us through those early morning hours). We also had to deal with leaky, overheated tents. I was so impressed by the amount of people that came out in the pouring rain to experience the show. During the heat wave, our friends brought cold drinks and frozen treats, and I am continuously overwhelmed by the support and kindness they have shown me.

TOAE is over, but I am still taking orders for prints & commissions. Any unsold pieces are available through my studio, and through Art Interiors in Forest Hill Village, Toronto. This coming month, I'll mostly be working on a large-scale mural for Google, and in the fall, I'll be participating in The Delicious Food Show, sponsored by The Food Network. I'll also be exhibiting my work at the One of a Kind Christmas Show. Stay tuned for more details!

Thanks again for your amazing support, and be sure to follow me on Facebook, where I post frequent updates about projects and exhibitions:

The Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition...Come!

The Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition is less than one week away! Now in it's 52nd year, TOAE is a juried showcase of fine art, which takes place annually at Nathan Phillips Square every July. As the largest juried outdoor art exhibition in Canada, TOAE offers a fresh-air alternative to conventional art shows and galleries. Hundreds of artists participate and an estimated 100,000 visitors attend the exhibition each year.

The show begins this Friday, July 5th, and ends Sunday, July 7th. Stop by Nathan Phillips Square, and be sure to visit me at booth #40! Admission is free, and the hours are as follows: Friday & Saturday 10:30am - 7:30pm, Sunday 10:30am - 6:30pm

HERE'S WHAT TO EXPECT...

"WAKEUP! (detail)", Acrylic on Canvas, 12" x 12"

20 new paintings from the "WAKEUP!" series will be available for sale. These are each 12" x 12" (see  above), and will be sold separately or as groupings. Inspired by local, independent coffee shops, these pieces have been my pride and joy over the last few weeks. They've already been selling quickly, so be sure to get downtown early next weekend and reserve your favourite!

Acrylic on Canvas, 12" x 12" each

I'll also be showing 16 new drawings of Hershey's Kisses, which will be sold at $80.00 each...framed! These hand-drawn pieces work well individually or as part of a larger grouping (I plan to create a new grouping of 16 for my own dining room). They also make incredible gifts! Stop by booth #40 and give someone a kiss.

"The Kiss", Pencil Drawings, 10" x 10" each (framed)

I'll be selling limited edition prints! To order a print online, please visit:  http://www.erinrothstein.bigcartel.com/product/bagel-limited-edition-print-signed

Limited edition prints, signed. 24" x 24" unframed ($400) or 28" x 28" framed ($650).
Epson enhanced matte paper,  edition of 100.

Finally, I'll be showing 2 fortune cookie paintings, and an old favourite -- the pistachios.

"Tasting Room - Fortune Cookies", Acrylic on Canvas, 20" x 20" each, $750.00 each
These are among the last fortune cookies still available. You'll have to get a little closer to read the messages.

"Tasting Room - Pistachios" Acrylic on Canvas, 36" x 36", $2,800.00
This is the last remaining pistachio painting! Is it yours?

Until Friday, I'll be the studio painting and preparing for the big event! Invite your friends and make it an artsy weekend. I hope to see you there!
